ABOUT

G. DaPonte has spent time playing with loads of L.A. musicians, engineering a variety of recording projects, setting up several indie labels and programming radio. In 2007 he finished an eight-year stint hosting the eclectic weekly radio show “Night Song” on KCRW, Los Angeles’ premier public radio outlet. DaPonte released the solo album, Let It All Come Down in 2008.

2012 saw the release G. DaPonte’s album Lucky Days and Lucky Numbers, which featured contributions from intriguing players including: Taras Prodaniuk (Lucinda Williams, Richard Thompson), Danny McGough (Social Distortion, Tom Waits), Eric Heywood (The Pretenders, Joe Henry, Ray LaMontagne), Tony Gilkyson (X, T-Bone Burnett), Doug Pettibone (Lucinda Williams, John Mayer), Chris Lawrence (Mike Ness), drummer David Raven (Mike Ness, Shelby Lynne), along with guest vocals from Claire Holley and Syd Straw. Songs from these albums have been featured on ABC TV & HBO’s True Blood.

Following the release of Lucky Days and Lucky Numbers, DaPonte
decamped from Los Angeles to the Mojave Desert, where he operates his Mojave Sessions Recording Studio & Record Label, based in Joshua Tree California.

DaPonte is currently playing regional shows with his own band as well as performing with other artists, including frequently appearing as percussionist with the retro-Americana band Arroyo Rogers and desert garage-rockers The Yes-Go’s.

DaPonte continues to record solo material and has several projects slated for release on the Mojave Sessions label in 2024.
